News Stories by CSULB Students

Welcome to the JOUR 440 Summer 06 web page. This is where you will find news stories written by a group of CSULB Journalism students who went to Florianopolis, Brazil, in June-July 2006 as part of a Journalism course, JOUR440 Writing for the Web.

You will also find the personal weblogs (blogs) posted by each of the students. The blogs are uncensored and unfiltered travelogs or travel journals, in which the students describe some of their experiences in Florianopolis and beyond.

JOUR440 is a three-week, intensive CSULB summer course in Brazil, in which students learn the basics of reporting and writing for the web. While in Florianopolis, the state capital of Santa Catarina, we had classes at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina's (UFSC) Journalism department. As part of the course, each student had to write several news stories focused on local issues.

The stories linked on this page were written by the students, based on their experiences in Brazil. Stories are listed alphabetically, by title.
