Thursday, September 10 at 7:30, Alisa Katz, documentary film maker and associate producer of the film Defiance

The CSULB Jewish Studies Program is pleased to announce the first speaker in their fall lecture series:  Alisa Katz.  She will speak on Thursday night, September 10th, at 7:30 pm, at the Alpert Jewish Community Center (3801 Willow St.).  Ms. Katz is a documentary film maker who has lived for several years in Eastern and Central Europe, and worked as associate producer on the feature film, Defiance, where she worked on location during the shoot.  She will be speaking on her experiences and work with Jewish communities in Eastern Europe that are emerging since the fall of communism.  Her talk will include screenings of brief scenes from Defiance as well as from her still-in-production documentary.

2009 Latin American Studies Film Series, first film on October 1

The Film and Electronic Arts Department presents Crossing Borders, the 2009 Latin American Studies Film Series at the William Link Theatre (formally the University Theatre) beginning October 1, 2009. Films include El Argentino (The Argentine), Guerrilla, Cita En La Frontera (Encounter on the Border) and El Viaje De Teo (Teo's Journey). Events are free and open to the public.
