Posted on July 3, 2012 by Lawrence Fujiwara

Today I worked in the lab. I worked with eCognition, ERDAS, ArcMap pretty much all program to find the best way to georeference and do object analysis.

Here are the pics of my work (madness) today

Day 19: Lab work

Posted on June 30, 2012 by Lawrence Fujiwara

Today we went to the NTBG facility and worked on my research. I focused on mostly ERDAS and eCognition. After dinner we went to a lecture by Dr. Hunt. The lecture educated me in Polynesian history. Even though I have no archaeological background the lecture was very easy to understand, informative and interesting.

On a different note…since there has been no picture posts recently here are some few random pics over these last few days.

Day 18

Posted on June 29, 2012 by Lawrence Fujiwara

Yesterday (I did not blog on the day) I went to take some soil samples. After taking soil samples we had presentations. Each team presented what they did and what they were hoping to achieve.

Day 17: The kite flew away

Posted on June 28, 2012 by Lawrence Fujiwara

Today was a relaxing day. I helped my fellow archaeology group member Avery with georeferencing on ERDAS. Afterwards the archaeology group went to the field to test out the kite Dr. Lipo brought with him. Unfortunately the kite was unscuessful and the string broke and flew away. Dr. Lee and Dr. Lipo found the kite and the camera so that was good news. After dinner Matt Lucas had a lecture on some of his projects and models he has been working on.

Day 16: Hawaiian Canoe

Posted on June 26, 2012 by Lawrence Fujiwara

Today we worked in the lab all day. It was nice to work in a lab (sort of) because I was able to avoid the sunlight for once. At the lab I georeferenced some points we recorded on the trimble and also tried to make a DEM model using photoscan and ArcMap of the first heiau we visited. Unfortunately I was unable to make a DEM on ArcMap (well I made it but it turned out wrong). However today was a productive day. Also after our work was done, the vegetation group and the archaeology group went out to paddle some traditional Hawaiian canoe. I have to say that was quite a workout. After breaking a sweat on the canoe, we went out to get some burgers and fries. Thank you Dr. Lee for the delicious burgers!

Pic time!!

(Hawaiian canoe) p.s Yes that is us and I took the pic hahha

(georeferenced images) p.s yes I did this one

(pic I took when took a break after the DEM didn’t work)
