Application Requirements

How do I apply to the M.A. in Economics program?

Applicants must first complete the University Application for Graduate Admission, available from the Office of Admissions and Records, (562) 985-5471, or online at http://www.csumentor.edu .  The University requires all applicants to submit official transcripts along with their application.  If you are an International Student on F-1 or J-1 visa, you will find an International Admission application on the same page.

All applicants must also fill out and submit a separate application to the Department of Economics. The application form is located at the end of the MA Information packet HERE.

The department also requires copies of transcripts (official or unofficial) to accompany the application.  GRE scores, letters of recommendation, and writing samples are not required for application to the program, but will be considered in the decision process if submitted.

What is the application submission deadline?

April 1 for application to the Fall semester. The university is not accepting applications to the Spring semester.

What materials do I need to submit if I am an International Student?

International students must submit their academic records, fulfill English requirements, and demonstrate financial support.  Please find additional information at the Center for International Education

English language demonstration is required for applicants who do not have a bachelors or masters degree from a U.S. accredited institution. U.S. community college transfer students must demonstrate their English language proficiency starting Fall 2008. Any U.S. citizen/resident whose education is from outside the U.S. must demonstrate English language proficiency as well.
