Office Of Economic Research

Welcome to CSULB’s Office of Economic Research (OER) Website

The Office of Economic Research (OER) coordinates and conducts applied economic research that supports the mission of the university by tackling important problems facing the region, state, and nation.  OER integrates scholarship and learning by building on faculty expertise and providing learning opportunities for students.  OER works with governments, nonprofits, businesses, and the rest of the university to identify potential research projects which address important issues such as regional economic development, transportation, and the environment.

Among the ongoing efforts of the OER is the CSULB Regional Economic Forum, which replaces the former Economic Forecast event.  The first CSULB Regional Economic Forum will be held in Spring 2013.

For more information about OER, please contact us at OER@csulb.edu.

OER Leadership Change

OER welcomes Dr. Heather Stephens.  Dr. Stephens joins the faculty after completing her Ph.D. from The Ohio State University.  Her research is focused on examining the factors related to regional economic development and differences in the effect of public policies across regions.  She also has prior experience working for two U.S. Congressmen, on strategic partnership development for a Fortune 100 company, as a local economic development director, and on regional economic development and energy-related issues at a university-based applied research institute. For more information about Dr. Stephens, please visit her website.

Under her new direction, OER will build on the programs and relationships developed by founding director and Professor Emeritus, Dr. Joseph Magaddino.  We thank Dr. Magaddino for his service to OER and the Economic Forecast!
