Arabic at CSU, San Bernardino

The 2007 Summer intensive Arabic language program
integrates Modern Standard Arabic with spoken
Arabic, developing the students’ four language
skills, with emphasis on communication in a
carefully-planned immersion environment. The
summer intensive program will be followed by
study abroad in 2008. High faculty-to-student
ratio. All tuition, travel, supplies, field trips
and accommodations paid!

Dates: Application due April 20, 2007

Selection notification: May 15

Instruction: June 20-July 31

Academics: All students earn a minor in Arabic Language; Total of 40 Quarter Units College Credit over the course of the program. Stipend at completion of program

Other activities: Sports, calligraphy, music, poetry, movies, discussions, cooking, and guest speakers.

Application Procedures: Ahlan Wa Sahlan and thank you for your interest in applying to our program. We encourage all interested students to apply as early as possible. Application deadline is April 20, 2007. The application procedure is a two-step process:

The first step requires you to simply fill-out an application form and mail it/drop it to the department of World Languages and Literatures (See submission instructions on the actual application form below). You may pick up an application form from the World Languages and Literatures Department (University Hall 314) or print the online version (below).

The second step takes place once your completed application has been reviewed. You will undergo a placement interview (by phone or in person) to determine your proficiency level.

Once this is completed, the selection committee will notify you of its final decision on or before May 15, 2007. If accepted, you will receive a welcome package with instructions about what to prepare for the Summer program at Cal State San Bernardino.
