- Fact Report – Larry Martinez
- Nothing to report – no meeting yet this semester
- Big bombshell is that we are not going to Angel.
- Meeting in the next 2 weeks.
- Agreement signed for another year for Beachboard
- Moodle – hosting services? Need to find out where we are.
- Centralized data storage update (Bill Grissom)
- CLA bought 6 terabytes of space to allocate out for centralized storage for faculty and staff.
- Hoping to get 10-20 gigs for faculty and staff.
- Was to be ready this summer. Met with ITS – were going to develop a Service Level Agreement (SLA).
- June – storage has been put on hold. Not clear why. AVP Janet Foster (DAF) and AVP Don Gardner (AA) – some confusion over who does what.
- Project now back on track – nothing started again until August.
- RAID array – striped for redundancy
- Shadow Copy – allow incremental backup.
- Virtualized server.
- Getting close. Maybe by next meeting.
- Move folks from who were on Campus-NAS to new disk.
- Mac infrastructure – discussion with OAT
- Note: we need a mac infrastructure – or an infrastructure that allows the same degree of control as Windows.
- What are College SLAs?
- i. Server side management
- ii. Pass through authentication
- Should be provided by OAT – to support Mac and Windows
- Web support group update
- Web support group formed – Not representative of faculty – very IT/administration focused.
- i. Goal to come up with content management system. Budget cut issues.

- Current Dreamweaver/Contribute – client side
- Need more web-based, defined roles, access privileges.
- COTA has made contact with someone who is doing demo on Thursday.
- i. We are just trying to push it.
- We need to continually push centralized providers
- Email/calendar/collaboration suite/strategy
- At one point in time they were going to Exchange.
- Now looks like we will move to Google Mail. Concerns over security – but not clear that this is an issue given their SLA. However, they offer a Google Enterprise Edition. Disk space.
- Email would be @csulb.edu
- CSU has signed a master service agreement. So campuses can move forwards.
- Confusion about who is leading what – students first?
- Information Technology Leadership Council – formed – Janet, Don, Bill, Praveen Soni, Mike Costa (note: basically no faculty from the Colleges).
- Need representation of faculty at these administration committees
- Talk to Chair of Academic Senate – Praveen Soni — about issues self-governance – representation – openness in terms of these ad hoc and non-representative committees.
- i. Why are committees being formed by administration that have no faculty representatively?
- ii. Are these committees open? Posting minutes? Posting agenda? Meeting times?
- Computer Refresh:
- Current Policy is to do replacement every 4 years.
- We don’t know if we are getting BATS funding this year.
- Discussion about applications and prioritizing refreshes.
