			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>&lt;strong&gt;Douglas Fenstermaker&lt;/strong&gt; (BS, 1975, College of Liberal Arts) has been named Vice President of healthcare for Warbird Consulting Partners, a professional services firm based in Atlanta, GA. He was previously the CFO for HealthEast Care System in St. Paul, MN.</p>
<p>&lt;strong&gt;William Greenwalt &lt;/strong&gt;(BA, 1982, College of Liberal Arts) was named the Aerospace Industries Association’s Vice President of Acquisition Policy. He was previously the Deputy Director for the Surveys and Investigations staff of the House Appropriations Committee.</p>
<p>&lt;strong&gt;Tracy Noonan&lt;/strong&gt; (BA, 1991, College of Liberal Arts) was selected as the new City Attorney for the City of Thousand Oaks. She was formerly the City Attorney for the City of Simi Valley, prior to taking that position she was the Assistant City Attorney for Thousand Oaks.</p>
<p>&lt;strong&gt;Norman R. Hill&lt;/strong&gt; (BA, 1991, College of Liberal Arts) was appointed by Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber as the newest judge at the Polk County Circuit Courts. He has been in private practice his entire law career prior to his appointment.</p>

<p><strong>Richard “Rick” Bryson</strong> <strong>(Economics ’66)</strong> grew up in Long Beach and attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School where he was a football and baseball star and a member of the football’s hall of fame.  After graduation Rick received an athletic scholarship to the University of Santa Clara.  During his freshman year there, he transferred to California State University, Long Beach where he was offered an athletic scholarship.  Rick excelled in academics, was a part of the Dean’s list and majored in Economics as well as a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.  Rick is also a member of the CSULB Athletic Hall of fame.</p>
<p>After graduation Rick went into the insurance business and eventually opened his own agency, which is one of the largest insurance brokerage firms in the nation.  Throughout his career he has received several awards, including a business scholarship to the University of Michigan as well as the University of Notre Dame.  As a CLU and CHFC Rick gains the professional designation from the University of Bryn Mawr in Pennsylvania.  Rick currently lives in Naples of Long Beach with his wife Bree and is the proud father of four children, who have given him seven grandchildren with one more on the way.</p>

<p>In 2011, <strong>George Gascón (History ’77)</strong> was elected as District Attorney of the City and County of San Francisco after winning more than 62% of the vote. Gascón is the first Latino to hold the office of District Attorney in San Francisco.</p>
<p>Born in Cuba, Gascón and his family immigrated to the United States and settled in South Central Los Angeles when he was 13 years old. As a monolingual Spanish speaker in a new country, Gascón struggled in school and eventually dropped out. He went on to earn not only his high school diploma but a Bachelor of Arts in History from CSULB, and a Juris Doctor Degree from Western State University, College of Law.</p>
<p>Gascón has over three decades of experience in law enforcement. He earned a positive reputation for reforming one of the nation’s largest police departments by revamping officer training, teaching proper police procedure, and improving the Compstat program. Gascón is a graduate of the FBI’s National Executive Institute, and a member of the Harvard University/Kennedy School of Government’s Executive Session on Policing and Public Safety.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Jeffrey Mateer</strong> (BA, 1983, College of Liberal Arts) was promoted from Product Manager to Sales Director at Apollo Design Technology, Inc.</p>
<p><strong>Stephanie J. Bryson</strong> (BA, 2011, College of Liberal Arts) was named a Rhodes Scholar, the first for CSULB. She was among 32 Americans chosen by The Rhodes Trust from 830 finalists. Ms. Bryson was the valedictorian at CSULB’s graduation this past May. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in German and European studies at Georgetown University.</p>
<p><strong>Marcella McFadden</strong> (BA, 1991, College of Liberal Arts, MPA, 1996, College of Health &amp; Human Services) was hired as Monterey County Office of Education’s new Information Officer. She was the Marketing Director at the California Schools Boards Association prior to her appointment.</p>
<p><strong>Mike Twyman</strong> (BA, 1983, College of Liberal Arts) was named Vice President and General Manager of the Defense Systems Division, one of five divisions within Northrop Grumman’s Information Systems sector. He was most recently the Vice President for Integrated Command, Control, Communications and Intelligence Systems at the company.</p>
<p><strong>Jeffrey L. Pittman </strong>(BA, 1985, College of Liberal Arts) was named Director of Wealth Management Division at Montecito Bank &amp; Trust. He was previously the Senior Vice President and Regional Director for the Wells Fargo Wealth Management Group, where he was a founding member of their Wealth Management’s Diversity Council.</p>

<p>Dr. Julie Van Camp is a Professor Emerita of the Department of Philosophy. She published “Yes, But Is It Vandalism? Graffiti, Conceptual Criminals, Artists and Free Speech” in the first volume, second issue of <em>Aesthetic Pathways</em> in June 2011. She also presented a commentary on David Hume’s “Of the Standard of Taste” at the Mountain Plains Philosophy Conference in Denver on October 7<sup>th</sup>, 2011.</p>
