Placement Tests

In order to attend any CSU campus and be placed into appropriate level English and Math courses, students should consult their official Notice of Admission to determine whether they are exempt from taking the CSU Placement Exams: the ELM (Entry Level Mathematics) and the EPT (English Placement Test).

Students whose scores require them to take these placement tests must do so prior to classes beginning in order to attend CSULB. Your score on the English Placement Test (EPT) will directly affect the level of Written Composition you may enroll in with the Learning Alliance and CSULB, so the earlier you take the test(s), the better your chance for admission to and placement in our program. We recommend that you take your placement tests before May, in order to have your scores by the time you attend SOAR.

Look at the CSULB Testing & Evaluation Services website, or call their office at (562) 985-4007 for information about placement test registration.
