Important dates and deadlines
- Adding/Dropping classes
Check MyCSULB for your first available date to add a class. You may use MyCSULB to add and drop classes through the end of the second week of the term. You may still add and drop classes through the third and fourth weeks of the term using the Add/Drop/Credit/No Credit form available in the Brotman Hall courtyard. After the census date (approximately the fourth week of the term) you must obtain a different Withdrawal form available in the Brotman Hall courtyard. Beginning Fall 2009, students are limited to 18 units of withdrawals (W's) on their transcript. Refer to the Enrollment Services website for exact deadlines each semester. http://www.csulb.edu/depts/enrollment/dates/registration.html
- Credit/No Credit
A great way to keep your GPA up is to use the Credit/No Credit (CR/NC) grading option. You will receive a 'CR' for 'A,' 'B,' or 'C' level work; 'NC' if your grade is below a 'C' in the class. CR/NC is not calculated into your GPA, however as long as your earn 'CR' then you will earn units and credit for that course. If you receive 'NC', you will not earn units for the course. This could affect your financial aid status. You may take a total of 24 units CR/NC, of which no more than 12 units can be upper division (300-499) and no more than 8 units in one semester. Most major and minor classes cannot be taken CR/NC.
- How do you change a class to CR/NC?
Use the Add/Drop/Credit/No Credit form available in the Brotman Hall courtyard between the second and fourth weeks of school. Refer to the Enrollment Services website for exact deadlines each semester. Have the form signed by your major advisor and by the department offering the class. If you are undeclared or a pre-major, have the Academic Advising Center (HC-104) sign for the major advisor. Then return the completed form to Enrollment Services (BH-101). The instructor does not know you are taking the class CR/NC and will continue to grade you. Once you make a class CR/NC, you cannot change your grading option back to a letter grade.
