M

aking a Difference With Leadership is an upper-division course open to students in the Learning Alliance at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). A key purpose of the C/LA course is to prepare upper-division Learning Alliance students to serve as peer mentors to incoming freshmen. All students will learn communication, facilitation and leadership skills. This hands-on, experiential class will benefit students' personal and professional development whether or not they choose to apply for a peer mentor position.

Some topics of the course include: theories of college student development, relational leadership model, establishing rapport and relationships, group facilitation techniques, classroom chemistry, ethics and standards, and developing authenticity and your professional image.
