We are excited to have Chanthy on our team, as she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to help us move forward with several Student Success goals.
The Learning Alliance prides itself on fostering young professionals as they develop their skills through graduate study. We have two new graduate students working with us this term, Alyssa Hernandez and Jesse Lopez.
Alyssa graduated from California State University, Long Beach in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in English Education. During her undergraduate experience she was a participant in the Learning Alliance program and served as a peer mentor for two years. This fall she began her Master’s of Arts degree in English, hoping to continue her passion for writing and teaching. As a graduate assistant with the Learning Alliance, Alyssa will continue to assist students with their first-year transition into college and work with the Learning Alliance team to provide quality services to College of Liberal Arts students.
Jesse Lopez is a recent graduate of Cal Poly Pomona where he completed his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. As an undergraduate Jesse served as a peer mentor and tutor to students needing assistance with academic coursework. Jesse is currently pursuing his Master of Science degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Student Development in Higher Education. After completing his degree, he hopes to continue to work in higher education as a Student Affairs professional. Working with the Learning Alliance staff, Jesse is excited to receive hands-on training with advising, learning communities, and projects associated with student success initiatives in the College of Liberal Arts.
