CSULB Learning Alliance
Welcome to the Learning Alliance, the College of Liberal Arts’ premiere learning community! This fall marks our 21st year of celebrating the student experience at Cal State Long Beach. Committed to the academic, personal, and professional success of our students, the Learning Alliance provides a venue for undergraduates to explore academic options, connect with peers, and receive the tools and support they need to thrive in college and beyond. Traveling as a cohort between linked courses, students are acclimated to the university with the guidance of professional staff and exceptional faculty members. In addition, students have the option of participating in C/LA 195, an innovative freshman seminar course designed to facilitate a smooth transition into the university as they find their unique place and pursue their passions at Cal State Long Beach.
As a part of the ATLAS (Advising and Teaching Liberal Arts Students) Network, the Learning Alliance acts as the home base for all College of Liberal Arts students. We offer a safe place where students can bring their advising questions and concerns and receive individualized support from our team of experienced advisors and staff.
Your success matters to us at the Learning Alliance.
Learning Alliance Welcomes New Staff Member
Jenise Gragera received her Bachelor of Arts in Music Education at UCLA and worked as a high school choir director for six years. While helping young artists reach their musical potential, she developed a passion for supporting students in achieving their life goals as well. Jenise went on to earn a Master of Science in Counseling for Student Development in Higher Education at Cal State Long Beach, then worked at different local colleges. She is excited to be back at The Beach and eager to support students in her role as Academic Advisor & Retention Coordinator.
Freshman Mandatory Advising
All freshmen are required to receive academic advising during their first year at CSULB. Your advising hold will be lifted once you have completed a mandatory advising session.
While our advising workshops for Spring 2013 have concluded, if you are a freshman with a major in the College of Liberal Arts who still needs academic advising, contact us at (562) 985-7804 or alliance@csulb.edu to set up an appointment. We will help you plan your Fall 2013 class schedule and answer any questions you may have about the advising process.
Questions and comments should be directed to alliance@csulb.edu.
