Dear Safe Zone Allies,
We would like to welcome you to the Safe Zone program and thank you for your willingness to become a visible resource and Ally to the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex community at California State University, Long Beach. We are very pleased you have chosen to support our efforts in making California State University, Long Beach a more welcoming campus for our lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students, faculty, and staff.
Our training will only begin to cover information regarding the realities that LGBTQI individuals face day-to-day. We have provided you with the Safe Zone resource website which is designed to be used as a reference and to provide information to others as needed. We hope that you will acquaint yourself with the material contained in this website, which is meant to compliment the Safe Zone Ally training sessions, and refer to it often both before and after the sessions themselves.
As a visible Ally on campus, you have the opportunity to be an agent of change and to improve the campuses climate by openly supporting members of our LGBTQI community. We encourage you to network and support your fellow Safe Zone Allies around campus.
We hope that you display your Safe Zone Ally sticker with pride and thank you for taking the time and energy to join Safe Zone’s mission of making California State University, Long Beach a more welcoming campus for our Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex students, faculty, and staff. We want you to know that we, along with other Allies on campus, are available to support your efforts. If you ever have questions or concerns about your role as an ally, please do not hesitate to contact us at the Office of Student Life and Development (562-985-4181). Thank you again for the time and energy you have committed to California State University, Long Beach’s Safe Zone Ally program!
