CSULB Sport Management Program Actively Involved in SEME West 2006

Posted by admin on Thursday, December 1st, 2005

The Sports, Events, Marketing Experience Sports Career Education Conference West 2006 will take place on January 13-15 at USC's Marshall School of Business in Los Angeles. The conference will provide those seeking careers in the sports industry with the insight, strategy, and contacts necessary to break into this ultra-competitive industry.

The keynote speakers are Shawn Hunter, President & Chief Marketing Officer of AEG and David Baker, the Commissoner of the Arena Football League. Included in the event is a reception and tour of STAPLES Center.

The CSULB Graduate Program in Sport Management will be well-represented at this premier two-day event. Many of the program's faculty, staff, students and Advisory Committee Members will be in attendance. Dr. Ketra L. Armstrong, Director of the CSULB Graduate Program in Sport Management, will moderate a panel on 'Graduate School and Sport Management Education' and another on 'Diversity in Sport Management.' Among the speakers at the event are CSULB Sport Management Advisory Committee members Bill Shumard (President & CEO of Special Olympics Southern California), Bill Husak (Director of Athletics, LMU), Joann Klonowski (Sport Marketing Executive), and Bob Wagner (Senior VP & Chief Marketing Officer, Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim). Brian Melekian (Director of Operations, Home Depot Center), who teaches the Facilty and Personnel Management course, is also on the speakers panel.

The Sport Management Program is an official sponsor of the SEME West Advisory Board. The sponsorship is a great opportunity for GPSM to be involved with SEME West and it will provide the program with excellent exposure.
