The internships are designed to provide a variety of opportunities for students to participate in sport management activities and programs in a variety of practice settings. The purpose of the internship is to prepare students for careers in the sports industry through practical application of knowledge and skills.

The internships are also designed to refine and extend courses and experiences in the MA degree program as well as prior education and experience and to build a network of contacts.

Each student is required to complete a minimum of 500 internship hours while participating in the 18-month program. The first six-month period requires 100 hours while the next two subsequential six-month periods each require 200 hours.
