Michele Himmelberg blazed a trail for female sports journalists, working for equal access in the National Football League and co-founding the Association for Women in Sports Media (www.awsmonline.org). The global organization known as AWSM celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2007 and continues to serve as a positive advocate for women in sports media through networking, mentoring and watchdog efforts. Michele transferred her journalism skills into marketing and is now a Public Relations Director, managing the print and social media team at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Ca.  As a business reporter and editor, Michele developed expertise in topics including Sports Business, Tourism, Workplace issues and Career Development. Michele began her career as a sportswriter with assignments covering the National Football League, National Basketball League and the Olympic Games.  Her awards include "Best Sports Story of the Year" from the California Newspaper Publishers' Assn. in 1991, and the Pioneer Award from AWSM in 2001. She’s an alum of the University of Southern California.
