Dedan Brozino

Dedan Brozino is currently the Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Relations and Communications at Long Beach State Athletics, bringing almost a decade of collegiate athletics experience and a background in resource acquisition, fundraising, sales/marketing, corporate sponsorships and media relations to the position during his time with the 49ers. Since joining LBSU in 2007 at the intern level, he has been promoted five different times within the organization and has managed record volumes of revenue production in each year.

As a member of the Athletic Department’s Senior Administrative Staff, Brozino manages the growth of all revenue-based activity as well as the direct oversight of the operational and budget components for the Marketing (19 NCAA Division I sports programs), Sponsorships (Nelligan Sports Marketing), Ticketing, and Media Relations departments and operations/communications for the 49er Athletic Club and Development office. His involvement in current fundraising includes short- and long-term major gift planning for capital projects, including the $1 million gift recently received from MLB All-Star Troy Tulowitzki for renovations to Blair Field. He also continues to develop and maintain the external communications strategy to gain visibility and exposure for the Beach brand, which has become nationally-recognized due to newfound radio exposure on the FM dial, regional/national TV coverage, and a #1 nationally-ranked court design.

Before his current position, Brozino spent time as the Associate Athletics Director for Marketing and Revenue Development where he spearheaded the creation and management of the department’s first-ever Ticket Office call center and sales team, which has streamlined customer service and offered further revenue growth of the season ticket base and 49er Athletic Club scholarship fund through day-to-day operations.

Prior to that, Brozino held the Assistant Athletics Director for Development role for almost two years. He directed the record campaign that has significantly bolstered the fundraising of scholarship and operational support to more than 300 student-athletes at the University. In just two years of directing the 49er Athletic Club, his accomplishments include directing the department’s first-ever $1 million-plus annual campaign with a 37% increase in overall support in year one, while eclipsing both of those totals in year two. Additionally under Dedan’s leadership, the 49er Athletic Club has showed a 20% increase in membership and a 31% increase in its highest level of private contributors, the Director’s Circle. Other than the management and oversight of the 49er Athletic Club’s annual campaign, his other responsibilities included direction and coordination of specific departmental functions, including its two biggest scholarship special events: the 49er Athletic Club Golf Classic and Jewels of the Night.

Prior to moving into the Development department, Brozino spent over four years in the Marketing & Promotions department at the Walter Pyramid, leading the marketing efforts from 2008-2011 for 19 NCAA Division 1 programs as the Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing/Corporate Partnerships. In this role, Brozino was also responsible for generating over $600,000 of revenue in corporate sponsorships as well as the branding initiatives within the school’s two major venues (Walter Pyramid and Blair Field). During his tenure in marketing, Long Beach State was nationally-recognized on three difference occasions, winning major awards from the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) for grassroots initiatives.

Focusing primarily on men’s basketball, Brozino increased revenue by 87%, average attendance by 62%, and total student attendance by 116% over a four-year span as the program grew to become a regular in the national television spotlight. For three consecutive years, LBSU led the Big West Conference in average men’s basketball home attendance. Brozino and his team were responsible for four of the school’s top-ten all-time single game attendances, including the largest in school history at the time. Prior to leading the Marketing department, Brozino was the Assistant Director of Marketing (2008-09), Marketing Assistant (2007-08) and a Marketing Graduate Assistant (2006).

In addition to his full-time duties, Dedan has also volunteered with several organizations and events during his career, including acting as the Big West Conference representative for NACMA from 2010-12, the 2007 NCAA Women’s Water Polo National Championship and the 2003 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Tournament. He has also been an adjunct professor and member of the Board of Advisors for the CSULB Graduate Program in Sport Management. He received his Master's in Sport Management from this program in 2008.

Brozino is a graduate of DeSales University in Center Valley, PA where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Sport Administration and a minor in Print Journalism. He got his start in the sports industry at DSU as a Media Relations/Communications Assistant in 2003. While on campus in Center Valley, he was also a pitcher on the Bulldogs baseball team, which made the school’s only College World Series appearance in 2003, and was inducted into the school’s athletic Hall of Fame in 2013.

Dedan, his wife Danielle and daughter Bryn reside in nearby Santa Fe Springs.
