Admissions

Program Admission Requirements

Admission into the CSULB Graduate Program in Sport Management will be based on students' composite profile (GPA, GRE, coursework, and sport related experience):

  1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution.
  2. A minimum cumulative undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 2.75. Admission into the CSULB Graduate Program in Sport Management is competitive.
  3. A minimum score of 450 on the verbal test, 450 on the quantitative test, and 3.5 on the analytical writing test of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
  4. Admission into the CSULB Graduate Program in Sport Management occurs twice a year (during the Fall and Spring terms).

Note: Admissions into the CSULB Graduate Program in Sport Management is not only highly competitive, but also limited by space availability. Therefore, in some cases, a student meeting the minimum admission requirements may not be accepted into the Program

What Do You Have to Do?

The application process is two-pronged. There are the University Application Requirements as well as the Department of Kinesiology Requirements. Those requirements are listed below:

  1. Submit the following to the University Office of Enrollment Services:

    • Apply on-line at www.csumentor.edu
    • $55.00 application fee
    • A set of official/sealed transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate academic work.

    Make check payable to the University Office of Enrollment Services.

  2. Send the Following items to the Graduate Program in Sport Management :

    • Transcripts showing completion of Bachelor's Degree (unless you are a CSULB graduate).
    • Letter of Intent (See template in PDF format).
    • Three completed reference forms (Download PDF fill-and-print form).
    • Proof of GRE with a minimum score of 450 on the quantitative and 450 on the verbal sections and 3.5 on the analytical section.
    • Resume.

*The Department of Kinesiology will accept department requirements (See Section 2 above) for application at any time. Monitor and review www.csumentor.edu for application access for spring or fall application.
