Graduate Assistants

Jason Gross

GRADUATE ASSISTANT, LT 19

Hometown: West Palm Beach, FL

orange bowlIn 2009, Jason earned his bachelor's degree in Business (Marketing) at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL, and he also minored in Sport Business Management. While in Florida, Jason interned with UCF Athletics in their marketing department, with the Central Florida Sports Commission, and with Ripken Baseball/Charlotte Stone Crabs (Tampa Bay Rays single-A affiliate). He also worked many events including Super Bowl XLIII and the 2009 Orange Bowl and BCS Championship games. After a year, Jason decided to pursue a degree in Sport Management and currently interns at the Newport Sports Museum for special events and also interns with the marketing/game-day staff for Long Beach State Athletics. His goal is to become involved with the community relations department of a professional sports franchise or athlete.

Tim Trefts

GRADUATE ASSISTANT, LT 20

Hometown: Santa Maria, CA

timTim joined the program with a bachelor's degree in Marketing from San Diego State where he also interned in their athletics department. Tim also worked with the San Diego Padres from 2007-2010 as part of Ballpark Operations Event Staff. He is currently interning with Long Beach State Pyramid Operations, and his goal is to become manager of a sport facility, preferably at the professional level.


Carri Cook

GRADUATE ASSISTANT, LT 21

Hometown: Placentia, CA

GA picture Carri earned her undergraduate degree from University of California Santa Barbara. While at UCSB, she competed for the Division I women’s swim team, and graduated with a degree in Sociology and Black Studies. After graduation, she served for a year at AmeriCorps and also coached for the Santa Barbara Aquatics Club. Carri decided to pursue a degree in Sport Management to best prepare her for a future career in the competitive industry of sport. Her goal is to work in an intercollegiate athletic department.
