Sharon Guthrie, Ph.D.

Image : Dr. Sharon GuthrieDr. Sharon Guthrie received her Ph.D. in Sport Studies at The Ohio State University in 1985. She has baccalaureate degrees in psychology and physical education from UCLA and CSU, Northridge and master's degrees in educational psychology and physical education from CSU, Northridge and CSU, Long Beach. Dr. Guthrie has been teaching at CSULB since 1990 in the areas of sport sociology and sport psychology. Her research deals primarily with the contribution of sport and exercise to self-perception (e.g., body image, self-esteem). She is now serving as Department of Kinesiology Chair.

Alison Wrynn, Ph.D.

Doris Lu-Anderson, Ph.D.

Image : Dr. Sharon GuthrieDr. Lu-Anderson’s academic background includes a Ph.D. degree in Sport Management from Florida State University, an Executive MBA degree from San Diego State University, a Master of Science degree in Health and Physical Education from Louisiana Tech University, and a bachelor degree in International Business from Ming Chuan University, Taipei, Taiwan. She currently is the instructor for the Capstone course.

Dr. Kerrie Kauer, Ph.D.

Image : Dr. Sharon GuthrieDr. Kauer received her Ph.D. in Sport Studies at The University of Tennessee in 2005. Her primary areas of teaching and scholarship focus on social and cultural aspects of sport with an expertise in issues of gender and sexuality. Dr. Kauer's line of research includes feminist and queer perspectives in sport, sport and activism, and embodied social justice.Currently, Dr. Kauer is the Coaching and Sport & Exercise Psychology Option coordinator in the Department of Kinesiology at CSU Long Beach. She teaches Sport in US Culture for the Graduate Program in Sport Management, Sport & US Culture and Psychology of Coaching in the Kinesiology graduate program, and Women in Sport and Socio-cultural Dimensions of Sport in the undergraduate Kinesiology program.

Rich Foster, J.D., M.P.A.

Image : Dr. Sharon GuthrieRich Foster is the owner of the Law Office of Richard J. Foster, where he specialized in representing Olympic Athletes and other sports figures and celebrities. Rich was the President of United States Water Polo for twelve years and President of the United States Aquatic Sports from 2006 through 2010. He also seved a four year term on the United States Olympic Committee. Rich received his bachelor's degree from Long Beach State, his M.P.A. from USC and his law degree from Loyola Law School. Rich will be teaching the Sports Law and Ethics course for the Graduate Program in Sport Management at Long Beach State.

Stephen E. Buchan, MBA

Image : Dr. Sharon GuthrieSteve is the Associate Director of the program. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree and Secondary Teaching Credential from CSULB in 1974. He began his teaching career in Special Education in the Los Angeles Unified School District. He was a member and captain of the Long Beach State Crew team, receiving the '49er of the Year' and 'William Lockyer Awards' for outstanding contributions. He later returned to CSULB in 1980 to serve as the Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach. He teaches the Foundations in Sport Management course.

Dedan Brozino, M.A.

Image : Dr. Sharon Guthrie Dedan Brozino is the Assistant Athletics Director for Development at Long Beach State Athletics, bringing almost a decade of collegiate athletics experience and a background in fundraising, marketing, corporate relations and sports information to the position during his time with the 49ers. Since moving into Development for The Beach in August 2011, Brozino is directing the campaign that has significantly bolstered the fundraising of scholarship support to more than 300 student-athletes at the University...

Roger Harvey, M.A.

Image : Dr. Sharon GuthrieRoger Harvey is the President of Event Alignment Marketing. He was formerly the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Big League Dreams Sports, LLC. He was responsible for sponsorships and advertising sales at ten BLD sports parks in CA, AZ, NV and TX including beverage pouring rights and host hotel affiliations.

Harvey earned his Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Arts degree from Brigham Young University.

Diane Higgs, M.A.

Image : Dr. Sharon Guthrie Diane Higgs graduated from the Graduate Program in Sport Management in 2003.  She is one of  the three internship coordinators for the program. She received her MEd from the University of Arkansas in 1976. Diane has nearly 30 years of experience in management and leadership positions. Those years have primarily been with the U.S. Marine Corps and FedEx. She has also served as the '09 Conference Manager for the Western Society of Physical Education for College Women. Diane is the program's Manager of Student Affairs, dealing with current and prospective students in a variety of ways.

Andy Roundtree, B.A.

Image : Dr. Sharon Guthrie Andy has a B.A. from Claremont Men's College where he majored in Economics with an Accounting emphasis. He was the CFO of the NHL Anaheim Mighty Ducks for 10 years and the CFO of the Anaheim Angels for 7 years. Currently, Andy is the Vice-President, Corporate Controller for Shea Homes, one of the largest privately owned homebuilders in the nation. Andy has taught the Sport Finance course in the Sports Management Program since its inception in 2002.

Charles Harris, B.A.

Image : Dr. Sharon Guthrie Charles Harris, a 25 year veteran of the sports management business, joined the program when he was the Director of Corporate Communications and Community Relations for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. Charles received his B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from UC Irvine. He currently serves as the Internship Coordinator for all three learning teams and teaches one class each semester. He has also taught the Sport Marketing course in the past and has offered a mini Communications/Media Relations segment workshop as part of the class. In addition to his senior leadership experience with the Ducks, Charles has also provided strategic and proactive public relations and marketing services for a number of sports related businesses including the Los Angeles Dodgers, UC Irvine Athletics and Major League baseball. He began his career in the 1980’s with the Los Angeles Angels. Charles also writes a blog on the sports business: www.sportsinfo101.com
