We at the LifeFit Center are making a commitment to uphold and promote these guiding principles of the Exercise is Medicine on Campus (EIMC) Program.
• Exercise and physical activity are important to health and the prevention and treatment of many chronic diseases.
• More should be done in university and college settings to encourage students to establish lifelong exercise and physical activity habits that have the power to significantly improve the quality of students’ lives.
• Support the American College of Sports Medicine’s (ACSM’s) efforts to bring a greater focus on exercise and physical activity in university and college settings.

The CSULB Fitness department plays a major role at the LifeFit Center in many ways. One of those ways is to help fulfill part of the LifeFit Centers mission: providing education, research, and career development opportunities for CSULB students, faculty, and staff. The LifeFit Center generally has about 6 interns from the CSULB Fitness department as well as many former students who have already obtained their fitness degree from CSULB Fitness option. The fitness major also helps fulfill the other part of the LifeFit mission: provide comprehensive and innovative health, fitness, social, and wellness programming. These students and former students help the LifeFit Center come up with innovatice and comprehensive programming for our members. They get the chance to learn on the job experience in a real life situation while LifeFit members get the benefits.
The fitness option is designed for students interested in careers in the fitness industry, e.g. fitness director, manager, program specialist, coordinator, personal trainer, or group instructor in corporate, commercial, YMCA, or other public or private facilities.
