Ayla Donlin obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Business from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. She then moved to warm and sunny California to pursue her Master of Science degree in Kinesiology from LBSU. Upon receiving her Master’s degree, Ayla became a lecturer in the Kinesiology department and has been teaching courses for the past seven years in the Fitness and Sport Studies options. Ayla completed her Educational Doctorate in Educational Leadership from LBSU.
Ayla has been active in the fitness industry for over 10 years as a group fitness instructor, personal trainer, group fitness director, and health club general manager. She is currently an American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) certified personal trainer and works with Johnny G. and Matrix Fitness as an International Educational Representative for the Johnny G. Krankcycle ® by Matrix. She has traveled to locations like Singapore and Germany to instruct fitness professionals on the use and benefits of the Krankcycle®.
As a passion and hobby, Ayla has organized, led, and participated in over 75 hours of Spin-a-thon/Krank-a-thon fundraisers benefitting various organizations like Challenged Athletes Foundation, Mychal’s Learning Place, Project VisAbility, and the John Tracey Clinic.
Heather Mazzei is the Program Coordinator for the LifeFit Center @ The Beach! She is a recent graduate of the Long Beach State University Kinesiology Fitness department and is grateful to be working at her alumni campus. Health and wellness continue to pervade her life as she follows her passion in inspiring and teaching others to make fitness a lifestyle instead of a side job. Heather is a certified strength and conditioning specialist as well as a certified personal trainer through the NSCA and enjoys watching people’s bodies and minds change as a result of exercise. She is a former dancer in the LBSU program and currently teaches ZUMBA for the LBSU Student Recreation & Wellness Center. She loves stretching, the Krankcycle, and her dog Shellee. Heather hopes to increase awareness of the many benefits that come with exercise and to make a difference in the community that has given her so much. "I look forward to working and getting to know all the members of the LFC as well as the LBSU staff and students!"
Tim earned his Master Degree in Sport Management from Long Beach State University in the summer of 2012. He earned 4.0 Awards Honors as well as the Sport Management programs 110% Award. Tim has worked for LBSU in the Athletics Pyramid Management, the Association of Volleyball Professionals, the San Diego Padres, where he was the Employee of the Year in 2009, and San Diego State University Athletics Marketing. Tim also received a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from San Diego State in 2008.
Nicole is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Kinesiology at Long Beach State University. She has been involved in athletics much of her life as a competitive runner and as a rower for the Long Beach State Crew Team. Nicole has been a personal trainer for the last nine years finding inspiration in helping people reach their fitness and athletic goals while encouraging a healthful sustainable lifestyle. "My educational path has developed my passion for working with and developing strength and confidence around past injuries and my motto is learn to love to move!"
Araceli is a student at Long Beach State Univeristy. She will graduate in May 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology Option of Fitness. She is a certified group exercise instructor through AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America). She is also CPR/AED and First Aid certified. "I enjoy the outdoors (hiking, rock climbing, nature) lifting weights, dancing and volunteering around my community. The human body really amazes me and I love learning about it. Exercise makes me feel good inside and out and I want others to achieve that great feeling as well. Exercise is not only to look good, it is to feel good physically and mentally. I believe 'What doesn’t challenge you doesn’t change you,' and I want to make sure people become aware of how important it is to stay active and live a healthy life."
James earned his bachelor's degree in exercise science at Point Loma Nazarene University in 2010 and recently obtained his MS in Exercise Science from Long Beach State Univeristy.
Heidi Engler is a Personal Trainer at the LifeFit Center. She is a graduate of Long Beach State Univeristy with a degree in Kinesiology, Fitness option. Heidi is NSCA (National Strength andConditioning Association) personal trainer as well as a Johnny G KrankCycle certified instructor. Some of her joys are Kranking, spinning, spending time under the sun at the beach, reading, being active, and spending time cultivating friendships. Her motto for fitness and life is "be joyful, from the inside out". She believes in finding an inner joy and desire for exercise and being healthy.
Anna Garalde is currently a fitness student at Long Beach State University and willbe graduating in the Spring of 2014 with a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology with a focus in fitness. She started working as a personal trainer at the LifeFit Center in September 2013, prior to that, she served as a fitness option intern during the summer months. She will continue to serve as a fitness option intern for her final semester of coursework in addition to working as a personal trainer at the LifeFit. She has big plans of creating programs that will inform members of ways to increase efficiency in their activities of daily living.
Leiana graduated in May of 2014 with a degree in Kinesiology, emphasis in Fitness from California State University, Long Beach. She is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, a Certified Johnny G. Kranking Instructor, and a recent 200 Hour Certified Yoga Instructor through Corepower Yoga. During her undergraduate studies her passion for fitness has grown through the education and experiences she has received. Some of her favorite hobbies include running, yoga, hiking, reading, dancing, traveling and camping. Leiana believes that a lifestyle of health and fitness has doors open to all. No matter what goals you have, staying active is a positive way to increase health, not only physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.
First entering college, Kaitlyn's sights had always been set on being a business major. It wasn't until two years into stressful business classes that she took a class called "Fitness for Living." Needless to say, her passion for fitness began!
Kaitlyn graduated from LBSU with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis in fitness. Her favorite part of her degree program was the immersion into the fitness industry. With the guidance of amazing professors and mentors, Kaitlyn has been able to attend multiple fitness conventions and events that embody what she loves most about active lifestyles. "Being a part of a community that is so interconnected through drive and determination is more than a blessing!" Outside of the fitness industry, Kaitlyn still enjoys staying active. Hiking, surfing, camping... Just a few of her favorite outdoor activities. Her passion is in yoga! Yoga has taught Kaitlyn so much about herself and life.
Elizabeth Taylor has been involved in sports and fitness since the age of four. She was a competitive gymnast for ten years. At the age of 24, Liz began a new career in fitness with the United States Navy, and I moved overseas to Sicily, Italy. She worked on the Sigonella Naval base as a Group Exercise Instructor and Personal trainer, and helped active duty service members and their family members get into shape and have fun doing it. She also had the privilege of becoming a proud mother to a beautiful little girl named Jordan Lee Taylor during her tour in Sicily.
After three years in Sicily, Liz relocated to Virginia Beach, Virginia where she continued her journey in fitness at Naval Air Station Oceana. She was a Fitness specialist for three years at NAS Oceana, and enjoyed every minute of it! She decided to continue my education and I returned to school to finish her degree in Kinesiology.

Chelsee is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer and Yoga Instructor. She has been training for the past 6 years. Chelsee is in her final year at Long Beach State where she will earn her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, Fitness.
