Geriatric Social Work Education Consortium 2012-2013 ~ Apply by January 28th!!

GSWEC Agencies Descriptions

The Geriatric Social Work Leadership Internship provides specialized geriatric training and stipends for Older Adult and Family concentration graduate social work students who have satisfactorily completed their first year of field internship. The GSWEC Leadership Internship is a program of the Partners in Care Foundation (PCF) and was initially funded by grants from the John A. Hartford and Archstone Foundation. The PCF collaborates with the departments and schools of social work of CSULB, CSULA, CSUN, CSUDH, Azusa-Pacidic, USC and UCLA to provide this unique training opportunity. Graduate Interns are placed at various comprehensive social service agencies throughout Los Angeles County where didactic leaning and practice interventions are combined to train the interns to meet the challenges of geriatric social work in the twenty-first century.

Applications are received once a year early in the spring semester.

For more information please look at the 2013 - 2014 GSWEC Student Guide that also includes the GSWEC Agencies Descriptions, and download the GSWEC 2013 Application.

For those of you who are going to apply for the GSWEC Stipend Program, you must attend the GSWEC Orientation at Huntington Memorial Hospital in March, 2013; please click here for the driving and parking instructions for Huntington Hospital,.and a Hospital Campus map. Attending this Orientation will give you more information about the GSWEC placement options and an opportunity to arrange visits and interviews at the various GSWEC sites of interest. Visiting these agencies will also give you an "advantage" in the GSWEC student selection process.
