Dr. Julie O'Donnell Awarded 2009 University Community Service Recognition

The University Achievement Awards were announced for 2009 and Dr. Julie O'Donnell from the CSULB Department of Social Work has been honored with the Community Service Award. This award recognizes her outstanding work and funded evaluation research with the Downtown YMCA and the surrounding community. These projects have included the Long Beach YMCA Youth Institute, Change Agent Productions, Afterschool University, and the YMCA Family Involvement Project. Her work also includes mentorship with low-income children and families from the Long Beach area teaching kids about the value of continuing their education.

In honoring Julie for this award, it also honors the hundreds of children and families she has directly helped through her work in the downtown Long Beach area.  We are proud of Dr. Julie O’Donnell's Community Service accomplishments for the Department of Social Work, the University, and the Long Beach community.

Congratulations Julie!
