Master of Social Work
Distance Education Degree Program Schedule

Through the use of fiber optic networks, interactive television, and computer technology, California State University , Long Beach (CSULB), in collaboration with California State University , Channel Islands, and Sonoma State University , is currently offering a Distance Education Master of Social Work (Master of Social Work) program on the Channel Islands and Sonoma State campuses.

The three-year program provides a concentration in Children, Youth, and Families. All courses meet on Saturday with the exception of the field placement (internship), which requires 16 hours per week during the second and third years of the program. Thirteen of the courses originate from the Long Beach campus through the use of interactive technology and are broadcast live with two-way audio and video to students at their host campus. Through this teaching modality, the professors and the students interact with one another as they participate in these courses. Seven courses, including field seminars, will be taught by local faculty at their home site. Field placements will be arranged locally. The program also provides CALSWEC Title IV-E funding for eligible county employees to pay degree-related expenses.
