The California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) Child Welfare Training Centre (CWTC) was established in 1991 to provide innovative and state-of-the-art training to Children’s Social Workers from the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), the largest child protective agency in the United States. Located on the beautiful campus of CSULB, the CWTC occupies 5,300 square feet at the University's Foundation building and includes on-site training facilities. The CWTC also houses offices for it's staff members and student assistants.

Dear Colleagues
We are pleased to present to you our current Child Welfare Training Centre Annual Report.
The report summarizes highlights from our Fiscal Year 2007/08, which marks our 17th anniversary and an important year for us. Our efforts focused on our core mission in order to make the Centre more effective and efficient in delivering training that supports the three federal key outcomes of safety, permanence and well-being for children who are in the care of Child Welfare Services. Training is consistent with strategies and initiatives outlined in California's Child Welfare Services Outcomes and Improvement Project, and incorporates the best practice components identified for child welfare professionals.
In our report, we describe the Centre's mission, organization, and guiding principles. Perhaps most important, to give you the clearest picture of how the Centre is performing, we include summaries of training provided in major areas and how training participants felt about the quality of our training programs. This report also showcases the individuals who make up the CWTC team.
Please take a moment to read over the report (link located in News & Events to the right) and feel free to send your comments and feedback to my attention.
Thank-you, James
