Bachelor of Arts in Social Work

The School of Social Work offers a two year professional program leading to a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work. The goals of the Bachelor of Arts program are to prepare students for entry level, professional, generalist social work practice and for graduate social work education including advanced standing. Students learn to practice as professional social workers with persons and groups representing the range of human diversity and with all size systems (individuals, families groups, communities and institutions).

All social work majors are required to complete a two-semester field work course during their senior year for a total of 450 hours. Students are placed in agencies two days a week throughout the academic year and attend a weekly seminar.

ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING GPA: Applicants to the Bachelor's of Arts in Social Work Program must earn a minimum, cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 in their prerequisite courses AND a cumulative GPA of 2.5 in all their college work. [12/2011]

NEW FOR FALL 2012 - EVENING BASW PROGRAM OPTION: The School of Social Work is pleased to announce the creation of an evening option for the BASW courses. This full time option allows you to take courses Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Note: Field Work courses are still done during weekday hours.
