Writing Proficiency Examination

To qualify for a degree, certificate, or for advancement to candidacy for a Master's degree, every candidate must pass the Writing Proficiency Examination (WPE) to be certified proficient in written composition in English. The Writing Proficiency Exam is a junior year requirement. NOTE: Off-Campus WPE examinations are available to Occupational Studies Distance Learning Students ONLY! If you are an on-campus student.

CONTACT YOUR STUDENT DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST (SDS) FOR TESTING SITES/DATES:

Students are assigned a Student Development Specialist (SDS) according to the first letter of their last name:

Del Campo, Veronica, SDS [K S U W]

Ford, Pam, SDS [F G R T]

Krapf, Patricia, SDS [L P Q V]

Komatsu, Nami, SDS [B H O Y]

Kukahiko, Lissa, SDS [A C & On-Campus]

Nathan, Cindy, SDS [I M N X]

Sakazaki, Tamara, SDS [D E J Z]

To register for Off-Campus testing, show up on the date of the exam and bring a check made out to CSULB for $25.

Note: Study guide information for the test is available on your OCST 300 CD or a practice workbook can be purchased through the Bookstore www.shopthebeach.com


Students who graduated from CSULB or another CSU campus and have proof of completing the "graduation writing competency" are exempt from the WPE.
