Apply Now for the Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Studies

Transfer or Freshman Applicants

Step 1

If you are a distance education student, please contact your SDS for application materials and deadlines. All other students may apply now using the online CSU-Mentor Graduate Application Form or a mail-in admissions application booklet. CSU-Mentor is the California State University's online resource to help you quickly and easily apply for admission on the Internet. If you do not have access to the Internet, you can request that an admissions application booklet be mailed to you by calling our automated application line at (562) 985-1655 or (562) 985-4145. Ask for the Undergraduate Application for Admission. If you use the mail-in application form, the code number you will need to write-in for the Department of Professional Studies is #08395. Please make sure you meet application deadlines. Note the following as you complete your online or paper application:

  • If applying online, you can start, stop, and save your online application information throughout the process. You don't have to complete the application during one session. For example, you can save your application and revisit your application to add or change information when convenient. When applying online, select New User if you are a first-time CSU-Mentor user. This will start your application process.
  • Have your previous academic information ready when you apply. For example, you'll be asked to submit information about the colleges you have attended. You will need the name of the college(s), dates attended, units completed, major, honors, and GPA. For each institution you identify on the application, you will need to request that a corresponding official transcript be sent to the Office of Admissions and Records at CSU Long Beach.
  • Identify CSU Long Beach as the University you wish to attend.
Indicate the term for which you are applying.
  • Select the Main Campus or Off-Campus Center. Your response will not affect your application.
  • Select Occupational Studies as your Major/Program objective. If you use the mail-in application form, the code number you will need to write-in for the Department of Professional Studies is #08395.
  • Identify an emphasis or leave the answer blank. You can select or change your emphasis after admission.
  • Your degree earned will be BS for the Bachelor of Science degree. Indicate BS on the form.
  • Indicate other information on the application form as requested. You may wish to collect this information before you apply for admission. For example, you'll be asked to identify (a) ACT or SAT scores, (b) the names institutions you have attended, and (c) courses.
  • Certify that your application is correct and pay the application fee. You can pay by credit card online or include a check payable to The California State University if applying by mail using the application for admissions booklet.

Step 2

Arrange for your transcripts to be sent to CSU Long Beach. You should arrange to have official transcripts sent at the same time you submit your application. If you have college transcripts at home, they should remain in the college's official, sealed envelope. Send (or arrange for your transcripts to be sent) to the following address:

Office of Admissions and Records
California State University, Long Beach
1250 Bellflower Blvd.
Long Beach, CA 90840-0106

Note: We recommend that you send a photocopy of your entire admissions packet (including transcripts if you have them) to the Department of Professional Studies. We will start a file for you while the University processes your application. Send your photocopied application to the following address:

Department of Professional Studies
ET Building, Room 234
California State University, Long Beach
1250 Bellflower Blvd.
Long Beach, CA 90840-5601

Step 3

Wait for your admissions decision. You will be sent a letter from CSU Long Beach indicating whether your application for admission was approved. If approved, you will also be sent additional information about how to register for classes. You may contact the Department of Professional Studies if you encounter any problems, have questions, or need additional information.

Step 4

Register for classes and begin your program of studies. Contact the appropriate staff person in the Department of Professional Studies for information about obtaining a planner for the selection of courses in your program.
