NOTE: Admission applications for the BS in Occupational Studies degree program offered through distance learning will be accepted up to May 15th for the Fall 2007 semester. Only those students officially admitted to the University will be eligible to enroll in classes offered through current or new sites. Students who meet the transfer upper division admission requirements may apply and must contact the distance learning office at (562) 985-5929 for the CSULB application to verify qualifications. Enrollment may not take place until official acceptance to the University has been received for Fall 2007 semester.
Graduate (MS) students should apply through CSU Mentor no later than July 1st for Fall 2007 semester and may enroll in current or new sites only after they have received formal admission acceptance for Fall 2007.
The Department of Professional Studies at CSULB is the largest distance education program in the California State University system. We began offering programs off campus in the 1970s, and have continued to grow as technology has advanced and as the need for off campus instruction has increased. The Designated Subjects Credential program and the Master of Arts degree have been offered since 1976. We started offering the entire baccalaureate degree in off-campus locations in 1994, and currently offer the BS degree at sites throughout California. Instruction for the Designated Subjects Teaching Credential program is available entirely online. The BS degree program is offered using a careful blend of live and mediated instruction. The MS program is offered most often in a live, intensive weekend format. The MS program is available entirely online for selected students.
