Graduate Applicants

Applicants who have earned a Bachelor's Degree from an institution other than CSU Long Beach and who have fulfilled all of the Department of Physical Therapy lower division prerequisite courses must simultaneously apply to the University and to the Department of Physical Therapy.

The application period is from October 1 to January 15 for entrance into the program the following fall semester. Applicants who have completed their degree and all lower division prerequisites with at least a 3.0 GPA prior to the January 15th application deadline may apply for consideration of early acceptance to the program. If the applicant is accepted by the Department, the Department will notify the Office of Enrollment Services of the Department's acceptance of the applicant. If the applicant has applied to the University and meets the University's minimum requirements, the applicant will then be admitted by the University. Candidates who are so approved will be ensured admission to the professional program after earning at least a 3.0 GPA in the foundational science * courses, a requirement of the Graduate School. *courses can be completed in one year by taking the * courses in the suggested order of the 3-year curriculum.

Graduate applicants who have not completed all of the the lower division prerequisite courses may complete these courses at a junior college. Once the lower division prerequisite courses are completed the applicant may apply to to the program as above.

Applicants may also use University College and Extension Services (UCES) to complete up to 6 units of upper division foundational science courses. Courses taken through UCES do not require admission to CSU Long Beach. For more information, contact UCES (800-963-2250 or 562-985-5561).

NCAA Ethnic Minority and Women's Enhancement Programs' Postgraduate Scholarship for Careers in Athletics

Ethnic minority and women students about to enter the PT program and interested in sports physical therapy may qualify for one of 26, $6000 scholarships awarded by the NCAA.. Students must not have begun graduate studies to qualify and must be U.S. citizens. Many prior scholarships have gone to PT students.
