Admission Procedure

Application Deadline

Students are admitted to the University and to the Nursing Program in the Fall and Spring semesters.

  • March 15 [ for Fall Semester ]
  • October 15 [ for Spring Semester ]

Application Requirements

Each applicant must perform the following:

  1. Apply to the Office of Admissions and Records at CSULB: Include your registration fee with your application and have ONE set of official transcripts of all previous college or university work sent to the CSULB Office of Admissions and Records. Call (562) 985-5471 for further information regarding university admission or apply online at www.csumentor.edu.
  2. Apply to the Graduate Program, Department of Nursing. Complete and submit an application form and have ONE separate set of official transcripts of all college or university work sent to the Graduate Program, Department of Nursing. (DO NOT SEND TWO SETS OF OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS TO ONE OFFICE. ONE set must be sent to the Office of Admissions and Records, and ONE set must be sent to the Graduate Nursing Program office). You can now print out the application and evaluation checklist on-line by downloading the applications and following the instructions. Students with foreign transcripts must apply through the Center for International Education at CSULB, (562)985-5476. Call the Graduate Nursing Office at (562)985-4473, email akliachk@csulb.edu for referrals and more information.
  3. Applications will be accepted at any time prior to the deadlines listed below for the respective semester. After the deadline, completed applications will continue to be accepted if space is available in the specific program. Check with the graduate secretary at (562)985-4473 or akliachk@csulb.edu.

Women's Health, MSN/MSHCA and MSN/MPH admit both semesters. All others admit in Fall only.

PLEASE NOTE: All required documentation (application, transcripts, evaluation checklists, written essay, etc.) must be received by the closing date of the application period. Be sure to check with the Graduate Nursing Office, (562) 985-4473, before the posted deadline to make sure your file is complete. You will not be notified if your file is incomplete on the deadline date. Your file will not go to the admission committee until it is complete. If you are able, you may have transcripts and evaluations sent to you and then you can submit them in sealed envelopes (transcripts) with your application.
