Camp Nugget 2011 is filled to capacity. We will start a waiting list. Due to safety, facility accommodations, and most importantly to assure quality instruction we are limited in the number of children with special needs we can effectively accommodate each summer.
Occassionally 1 or 2 children may need to drop from the program. If you provide us with your contact information (see below), we will be in touch if an opening occurs. These openings may be at the start of camp in late June.

The Kinesiology Department (KIN) at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) under the direction of Dr. Barry Lavay, Professor and Adapted Physical Education Specialist Credential Coordinator, offers a year round (fall, spring, and summer sessions) program of physical activity for children with disabilities. The program is offered to children ages 5 through 12 with disabilities and special needs. Provided is small group instruction (4-1 child/staff ratio) by university students studying in the KIN Department and working toward an Adapted Physical Education Specialist Credential under the supervision of Dr. Barry Lavay. Camp activities include aquatics with swim instruction, instruction in fundamental skills and lead-up cooperative games, outdoor adventure course, and adapted sports. The program is four weeks long and begins usually the last Monday in June and continues through-out the first three weeks in July. Camp Nugget is offered Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to noon and the cost is $375.00. Registration usually begins in April and is on a first come for serve basis. See attached Brochure.
