The Kinesiology Department (KIN) at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) under the direction of Dr. Barry Lavay, Professor and Adapted Physical Education Specialist Credential Coordinator, offers a year round (fall, spring, and summer sessions) program of physical activity for children with disabilities. The program is offered to children ages 6 through 12 with disabilities and gross motor delays. Provided is small group (2 or 1-1 child/staff ratio) instruction by university students studying in the KIN Department and working toward an Adapted Physical Education Specialist Credential under the supervision of Dr. Barry Lavay. Activities emphasized through individualized and group instruction are gross motor fundamental skills, cooperative lead-up games, sports, relaxation activities, and social interaction. Two, 10-week sessions are offered during the CSULB school year (Fall and Spring) on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons for 1 hour. The cost is $150.00 for each 10-week program that includes 20 sessions.
