About the Department

The Department of Kinesiology is the largest in the College of Health and Human Services in terms of full-time equivalent students (FTES) and full-time equivalent faculty (FTEF), serving approximately 500 undergraduate majors in eight Options, 250 pre-majors, and 150 graduate majors in 10 Options. Over 150 Liberal Studies majors are enrolled in a Physical Education Teacher Education course the Department offers for the Department of Liberal Studies. Additionally, approximately 5,000 students, mostly non-Kinesiology majors, enroll in the Department's 100-level physical activity courses each semester. 

Our Mission Statement

To facilitate wellness among individuals through the study and application of human movement principles across the life span, and through the management of and participation in physical activity, exercise, and sport.

KIN Abbreviated Mission Statement          

To study, teach, and promote physical activity to enhance the quality of life.
