Welcome to the Department of Kinesiologyki.ne.si.ol.o.gy n . [Greek kinesis] (1894): " the study of the principles of mechanics and anatomy in relation to human movement."Kinesiology is an integrative discipline that focuses on the various components and processes of human movement related to physical activity and sport, incorporating the areas of human anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, biochemistry, biomechanics, psychology, history and sociology. The Department of Kinesiology offers programs of study for students wishing to prepare for professional careers in physical education teaching (Adapted, Elementary, and Secondary) or related disciplines (Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Fitness, Kinesiotherapy, Sport Psychology and Coaching, Sports Management). The Department also serves the needs of students completing majors in other fields who find that certain aspects of Kinesiology are important to their professional objectives and personal interests. In addition to offering its degrees, certificates, credentials and minor, the Department of Kinesiology contributes to the overall mission of the University by interacting with the community through clinics and camps, conducting applied research, and providing students with general education, interdisciplinary and physical activity courses.
