Dr. Dale W. Evans had a variety of professional experience prior to joining the HSC faculty in 1988.He began his career as an elementary teacher in a suburban Chicago school district. His interest in teaching in higher education began with a part time position as a lecturer in a Chicago area community college. After completing the doctoral program at Indiana University he accepted a full time position at the University of Houston (1969-1988). During this time his major interest was in the professional preparation of health teachers for Texas public schools. Dr. Evans was active with a variety of local, state and national health education efforts. He is especially proud of his leadership positions with the American Cancer Society.
While at CSULB Dr. Evan ’s primary focus has focused on the HSC Single Subject Teacher Credential Program. Additionally he was the Undergraduate Academic Advisor for several years and the Faculty Advisor to Eta Sigma Gamma for 15 years. He is especially pleased to continue the tradition of CSULB leadership
in California School Health program development and health teacher preparation.
Although Dr. Evans recently completed the CSULB Faculty Early Retirement Program, he can still be found on campus teaching an occasional HSC course.
