Making an Appointment to See the Graduate Advisor

Do you need to see Dr. Malm? As the graduate advisor for the Department of Criminal Justice, you may need to see Dr. Malm to:

  • enroll in GS 700;
  • have prerequisites waived;
  • submit your program planner or a change to your program plan;
  • substitute a course taken at another university for one required in the criminal justice master's program;
  • be reinstated in the university;
  • discuss qualifying exam, comprehensive exam, or thesis options;
  • discuss paid and unpaid research opportunities;
  • problem-solve a grade dispute or other problem in a criminal justice master’s course or with a criminal justice instructor; or
  • obtain advising on a host of issues.

Regardless of why you may need to see the Dr. Malm, it is not a good idea to "drop by" without an appointment, especially in the summer months. Dr. Malm's schedule is quite hectic. She is rarely in his office and available to see people without an appointment. So, be sure to email Dr. Malm at Aili.Malm@csulb.edu to set-up an appointment when you need to see her.
