To work with community members and partner organizations to conduct research and develop and rigorously evaluate innovative interventions to promote health and reduce health disparities.
The Center was established in 1986 as the Center for Health Behavior Research under the direction of Dr. Irwin (Rusty) Rosenstock. The Center was initiated with an endowment from what is now called the Archstone Foundation, and the Director of the Center also has the title of Archstone Endowed Chair. The Center was initially housed in the Health Science Department before it became a unit of the Health Care Administration Program and was renamed The Center for Health Care Innovation (CHCI). Dr. Kevin Malotte was appointed Director in January, 2006.
