Registration Information
Registration Help
Registration Date & Time
- Your enrollment appointment is your specific registration date and time.
- Check your enrollment appointment on MyCSULB.
Holds
- A registration hold occurs when the university blocks your access to the registration system because you have not met a particular requirement.
- Check and clear any holds on MyCSULB before your registration date.
Selecting Courses
Use your Academic Requirements Report on MyCSULB to determine your remaining GE and major course requirements. Then access the online Schedule of Classes or the Class Search function available on MyCSULB to select courses.
When selecting courses, pay attention to the following information:
- Choose backup courses in case your preferred class choice is cancelled or fills quickly.
- Some classes are restricted to students in certain majors or minors only.
- You will not be allowed to register unless you have met the course prerequisites or corequisites. Check the Course Description for the class in the University Catalog to view prerequisite/corequisite requirements.
- Some courses require department or instructor consent to register. You must contact the appropriate department or instructor for permission. If the department or instructor allows you to take the coures, they will issue you an electronic permit. A permit does NOT automatically enroll you in the course. You are responsible for registering for the course.
Waitlisting Classes
- You may waitlist for a maximum of 10 units.
- Waitlisted units are included toward your enrollment unit limit.
- You must meet any requisites for the class before you can be placed on the waitlist (e.g., course pre-requisites, section co-requisites, major and class level restrictions).
- Students will be moved from the waitlist into the class if other students drop or are dropped due to non-payment of fees.
- If students drop, seats will not be available to students who happen to log in if there is someone on the waitlist.
- You will receive email notification if you are moved from the waitlist into the class.
- You will be billed if moved from a waitlist into a class and the additional units result in higher registration fees.
- If you are moved from the waitlist into a class, it is your responsibility to drop or withdraw the class if you decide not to attend.
- There is no guarantee you will get into the class. Instructors are not required to add students who were waitlisted for the class.
Students will be moved from the waitlist into the class if space becomes available, and in the order placed, unless either of the following restrictions apply:
- There is a time conflict with another class. Make sure that waitlisted classes do not conflict with your enrolled schedule.
- You are already enrolled in another section of the same course. Do not use waitlisting to try to get into another section of a course in which you are already enrolled. You will not be moved from the waitlist if space becomes available.
Check your schedule to monitor your position on a waitlist. If you decide you no longer wish to wait for space to become available, you may drop yourself from a waitlist.

Credit/No Credit (CR/NC)
- CR/NC does not affect your GPA.
- Undergraduate students who earn an A, B, or C in a course will receive CR.
- Undergraduate students who earn a D, F, or WU in a course will recieve NC.
- CR/NC limits for undergraduates:
- 24 total units
- 12 upper-division units
- 8 units per semester
- Some major courses cannot be taken for CR/NC. Check your major requirements for grading option restrictions.
- The grading option may not be changed retroactively after the end of the semester.
