Human Diversity

Human Diversity (H) Courses

Three (3) units required

  • Human Diversity courses:
    • Foster respect for human diversity in the USA and promote the understanding of diversity
    • Recognize the significant influence of diverse populations and cultures within the USA

Finding Human Diversity Courses

  • Go to the Schedule of Classes
  • Choose the appropriate term
  • Click on the “GE Requirement” button
  • Scroll to the bottom, under “Additional GE Course Requirements”
  • Click on “Human Diversity” to view all courses that satisfy the human diversity requirement

Finding Human Diversity courses that fulfill a specific GE category

  • Go to the Schedule of Classes
  • Choose the appropriate term
  • Click on the “GE Requirement” button
  • Click on the GE category that you are missing (example: Literature – GE Category C2a)Note: All courses listed satisfy the literature requirement, but not all are human diversity.
  • On the right side, look at the “GE Designation” for each course.  Courses that have an “H” or “HD” satisfy both your human diversity requirement and GE literature requirement.

Finding Human Diversity courses that “double count” as Human Diversity & Capstone

  • Go to the Schedule of Classes
  • Choose the appropriate term
  • Click on the “GE Requirement” button
  • Scroll to the bottom, under “Additional GE Course Requirements”
  • Click on “Capstone – Interdisciplinary”
  • On the right side, look at the “GE Designation” for each course.  Courses that have an “H” or “HD” satisfy both your human diversity requirement and one capstone requirement.
  • If needed, you may also search in the “Capstone – Advanced Skills” and “Capstone – Service Learning” categories to find a human diversity/capstone course.

Finding Human Diversity & Capstone courses that fulfill a specific GE category

  • Go to the Schedule of Classes
  • Choose the appropriate term
  • Click on the “GE Requirement” button
  • Click on the GE category that you are missing (example: Literature – GE Category C2a).
  • To find capstone/human diversity courses, look at the “GE Designation” for each course (on the right).  Courses that have the following designations are capstones:
    • I
    • S or Serv
    • A or A-Cap
  • Courses that also have either an “H” or “HD” satisfy your GE literature requirement, one capstone requirement, and your global issues requirement.
