This case features an ELD lesson developed by the teacher, Barbara Fraracci based on Wild! Woolly! Wonderful!, Unit 1 of Into English, Hampton Brown ELD Instructional Series, Level C. All students shown in this case are second-grade English learners in a Structured English Immersion program at Hacienda/La Puente School District. The majority of the class has been identified as being at Intermediate through Early Advanced levels of oral English proficiency according to CELDT. This case was taped during the first month of the school year. Although the ELD instructional period normally last 45 minutes, continuous 90 minute footage of ELD instruction was taped for the purpose of this project. Therefore, the case might be viewed as consisting of more than one instructional period. Both whole group and small group instruction are included in the case. |
