1f.1.   What data from key assessments indicate that candidates can create positive environments for student learning, including building on the developmental levels of students; the diversity of students, families, and communities; and the policy contexts within which they work?

The knowledge, skills, and dispositions to support the learning of all students that are embedded in the Conceptual Framework form the basis for learning experiences and assessment in programs for the preparation of other school professionals. Candidates in programs that prepare other school professionals such as reading specialists, educational administrators, school counselors, school psychologists, speech therapists and audiologists, and librarians engage in coursework and field experiences that emphasize establishing educational environments that support student learning. They demonstrate an understanding of the developmental levels of P-12 students, are knowledgeable of the diversity of students, families, and communities in today's schools, are familiar with the social, cultural, and policy contexts in which they practice, and show the ability to collaborate with teachers and other school professionals in the creation of positive learning environments that lead to success for all students. The table titled Relationship Between Student Learning Outcomes, Signature Assignments, and Student Learning by Program displays the signature assignments for each program learning outcome mapped to student learning for candidates in programs for other school professionals.

The table titled Program-level Summary Table by NCATE Standard 1 Elements (AY 08-09): Programs for Other School Professionals shows aggregated candidate performance data aligned with Standard 1 Elements for programs for other school professionals. Each of the programs for other school professionals has one or more Student Learning Outcomes that address "student learning." Each SLO is assessed by one or more signature assignments. For the AY 08-09 period, the average score across all programs for other school professionals was 3.74 on a 4-point scale. None of the programs had a mean score below 3.37, thus the Assessment Committee saw no cause for concern for any program.
