Monday, March 17th - Applications due
March 17th-20th - Student Practice Presentations by Appointment

Friday, March 21st - Showcase Presentations

Scholarships and Awards

COMMUNITY LEADERS SCHOLARSHIP

This award recognizes one exceptional student who has exhibited significant personal, academic and/or professional development in the past year. The recipient will receive a $500 award.

Criteria and Application Information:

  • SCPD student
  • Overall GPA 2.5
  • The essay should address the following:
    “Tell us how you have served the community (both on and off campus).  Please provide specific examples  
    of what you have done and what you have learned.” 
    Format: 1-2 pages, double spaced, 12 point font, Times New Roman, 1” margins
  • Application Form, Resume, Cover Letter, Essay, and One Letter of Recommendation

ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP

This award recognizes one exceptional student who has exhibited academic excellence in the College of Business Administration. The recipient will receive a $500 award.

Criteria and Application Information:

  • SCPD student
  • Minimum Major GPA 3.0
  • The essay should address the following:
    “What has motivated you to achieve academic success? How have these values affected your beliefs & actions?
    Format: 1-2 pages, double spaces, 12 point font, Times New Roman, 1” margins
  • Application Form, Resume, Cover Letter, Essay, and One Letter of Recommendation

PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENCE AWARD

This award recognizes one exceptional student who most effectively displays through presentation their personal, academic, and professional development over the past year. The recipient will receive a $500 award.

Criteria and Application Information:

  • SCPD student
  • Overall GPA 2.5
  • Application Form, Resume & Cover Letter
  • Powerpoint Presentation on March 21st 

Presentation Specifics:

  • The presentation should address the following question:
    “How does an ideal professional act and behave? How has your involvement with SCPD increased your professionalism?
  • 7-10 minute PowerPoint presentation
  • Panel will consist of SCPD staff and SCPD Advisory Board Members

FEI SCHOLARSHIPS

SCPD, in partnership with Financial Executives International (FEI), this award recognizes two exceptional students in Finance & Accounting who demonstrate how FEI values apply to their personal and professional life. Each recipient will receive an award over $500.

Criteria and Application Information:

  • SCPD student
  • Overall cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • The essay should address the following:
    “Tell us how you apply the following FEI ideas of Networking, Knowledge, Advocacy, & Ethical Leadership to your personal and professional life.   Please provide specific examples of what you have done and/or what you have learned.”
    Format: 2-4 pages, double spaced, 12 point font, Times New Roman, 1” margins
  • Application Form, Resume, Cover Letter, & Essay
  • Scholarship recipients need to attend the FEI-Orange County's Dinner Meeting on Wed., May 14, 2008.

* LEADERSHIP IN ACTION AWARD

This award recognizes 1-2 exceptional students for their contributions and service to the Student Center for Professional Development, the College of Business Administration (CBA), California State University, Long Beach and/or the community. The recipient will receive a trophy and a certificate signed by the CBA Dean. *This award will be selected by the SCPD staff.

Criteria Information:

  • SCPD student & Senior CBA student
  • Demonstrated leadership skills through service and co-curricular activities
