Business Excellence Certificate Program (BEC)

The Business Excellence Certificate Program (BEC) is a curriculum-based undergraduate professional development certificate program. The program aims to increase professional competencies and personal effectiveness of College of Business Administration (CBA) students. BEC serves to develop students into confident dynamic professionals prior to graduation by providing the appropriate skills and knowledge that are necessary in today’s business world. Highly recommended for all students, especially those interested in applying to the Corporate Mentoring Program.

BEC Program Completion Deadline: May 2011
The BEC Program focuses on 10 categories including 6 workshops for Curriculum and 4 activities in Experiential Learning. These categories consist of academic / career exploration, business foundations, internships / mentoring opportunities, community / global awareness and self-assessment. Lastly, all participants develop a professional portfolio. Time permitted to complete the program varies from one academic semester up to four academic semesters or two years.

The BEC curriculum focuses on 6 categories and several integrated learning activities. These categories consist of academic/ career exploration, business foundations, internships/ mentoring opportunities, community/ global awareness and self-assessment. Lastly, all participants develop a professional portfolio.

Application Requirements
- Must be a Cal State Long Beach pre-business or business major student with at least a minimum of 30 units or more completed
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.0 or higher

- Register and attend a BEC Orientation first before registering for any BEC workshop
BEC Welcomes ALL STUDENTS: Students from any major can also register to attend any BEC workshops (unless otherwise stated) but cannot join program and receive BEC certification.
