Program Applications

Steps to Applying to SCPD Programs:

  1. Read Overview & Meet Application Requirements.
  2. Complete online SCPD Program Application.
  3. If you are applying to Community Scholars or the Corporate Mentoring Program you must email to SCPD your Cover Letter, Resume and Letter of Recommendation Form within one week from submission of your application. You cannot be admitted to either program unless those documents are received."
    ** Please include in the email Subject Title, "SCPD Program Application Documents." **

OVERVIEW top

The Student Center for Professional Development (SCPD) provides CSULB College of Business Administration (CBA) undergraduate students resources and programs that help them develop leadership skills, career planning, academic success and civic engagement. We coordinate multiple programs, events, workshops and community service activities that connect SCPD students to other students, to the campus, to the community and to the corporate world. Through mentoring relationships, we hope to develop meaningful learning experiences for both students and mentors. SCPD provides resources and opportunities that support business students from college entry to graduation.

TIME COMMITMENT & RESPONSIBILITIES top
SCPD provides a variety of opportunities for students to become involved with the Center at different levels of intensity. The amount of commitment expected from our students can vary, but if you commit to our events or programs, then you will be expected to actively participate and fulfill the requirements.

BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP top
SCPD members have access to all sponsored SCPD workshops and events. We also provide our members with mentoring, service-learning, and networking opportunities. With an SCPD membership, students will have a chance to meet and form professional relationships with a variety of corporate and community professionals who work for companies and organizations such as Boeing, Target, UPS as well as the City of Long Beach, Port of Long Beach, and the Internal Revenue Service. We also provide opportunities for our students to develop professional skills and attributes such as business etiquette, interviewing techniques, teambuilding, leadership and others.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS top
To become an SCPD member, students must:
• Be a full time CSULB undergraduate student
• Be a declared Business major or minor
• Have a preferred minimum GPA of 2.5
