Legal Studies in Business Professor Lynn Dymally has been appointed to the Long Beach Bar Association board of governors.
- Dean Caveness Appointed to American Cancer Society Council
Assistant Dean of Students Jeane Relleve Caveness has been appointed to a two-year term on the Los Angeles Regional Council for the American Cancer Society (ACS).
- Ukleja Center for Ethical Leadership Duo Publishes Book
Co-Founder Mick Ukleja and Governing Council member Bob Stone wrote their latest book to help people hold true to ethical values in challenging times.
- The CBA Debuts “Beach World” on Second Life
“Beach World” is a virtual region (island) in Second Life produced by the College of Business Administration. Second Life is a free, virtual 3-D world created by its users or “residents” as they are referred to in Second Life terminology.
- Accountancy Students Serve the Community through VITA
During February, March and April, Department of Accountancy students assisted fellow students and members of the greater Long Beach community with their 2008 tax returns through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.
- CBA Welcomes New Accountancy Faculty
The CBA is pleased to introduce the newest member of the Accountancy Department faculty, Judy Yin. Yin received her Ph.D. in accounting and finance from Lancaster University, U.K. Her professional credentials include a CPA from China and a CMIA from the U.K.
- John Lacey Selected as Outstanding Educator
Professor John Lacey of the Department of Accountancy has been chosen the CalCPA 2008-09 Outstanding Educator. The nomination and selection process took place in fall 2008.

- CBA Study Abroad: China
Interest in our Short Term Study Abroad Program continues to grow. One of our most popular programs is the study/travel to China and East Asia, taught and led by Professor of Information Systems Robert Chi.
- Student Center for Professional Development Marks Year of Service and Engagement
The Student Center for Professional Development (SCPD) continues to “Engage, Execute and Excel” into its 24th year at CBA.
- CBA Teams Win Three First Place Trophies
On April 16-18, CSULB sent four teams to San Diego for the culmination of the 45th International Collegiate Business Strategy Competition and brought back three first-place top performance trophies.
- Team Innovative Inertia Wins Innovation Challenge
CSULB’s Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SIE) announced that the College of Business Administration’s Team Innovative Inertia, made up of students Tiffany Washington, Tanisha Washington and Kyohei Mimura, has won this year’s Innovation Challenge.

- SMIF Program Appoints Advisory Board
The faculty advisors for the Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF), Department of Finance Professors Dick Runyon and Peter Ammermann, have invited an exceptional group of community members to serve on the SMIF Program advisory board.
- Contributions to Scholarships Sets New Record
Thanks to the generosity of our donors and matching funds from the College of Business Administration, over $100,000 was awarded in scholarships and awards to our students during the 2008-09 academic year.
- Record Breaking Commencement for CBA
On May 27, the College of Business Administration held its largest Commencement ceremony to date, with close to 1,500 students participating.
- ABSOC Hosts Event for Job Seekers
The Associated Business Students Organization Council (ABSOC) hosted its 37th annual Meet the Industries Expo (MIE) at the Queen Mary on March 6. Over 200 CBA students interacted with 50 recruiters representing 20 companies at the afternoon job fair.
