GPC Curriculum Workshop Agenda for May 7, 2010

  2. 8:00 Welcome and introduction – As we get closer to implementing the Pilot Saturday MBA program … (Ingrid Martin, GPC Chair)
  3. 8:15 Pedagogy course – Design4Integration Blended learning course (Terre Allen, Director of Center for Faculty Development)
  4. Logistics of course-  Q&A related to Design4Integration Blended learning course and logistics (David Horne, MBA Director)
  5. 9:15 Portfolio Assessment for Pilot Saturday MBA program (Michelle Saint Germain, Professor, Graduate Center for Public Policy & Administration)
  6. 10:00 Break – Faculty select a table that has an “Integrative Course Theme” of interest.*
  7. 10:15 Curriculum Matrix Overview: link MBA Learning Objectives to the curriculum  (Michelle Saint Germain, Professor, Graduate Center for Public Policy & Administration).
  8. 10:30 Theme tables – faculty work in groups on their preferred choice of an “Integrative Course Theme”  (Terre Allen explains the process)
    1. Curriculum issues: what functional area topics should be included into the integrative course, ideas for core set of readings for the integrative course,
    2. Mechanical issues: student assessment, scheduling/line-up of topics
    3. Unresolved issues:

    1. Powerpoint presentation – a template will be provided
    2. Use iClickers to vote on top choices
    3. 5 minute presentation per table

    1. Top 2 broad-based integrated course proposals
    2. Top 2 narrow-focused integrated course proposals
  12. Sign up for Design4Integration seminar starting June 1, 2010 (alternative dates will be available).

* The course proposals submitted by faculty will be used as the themes that will be the focus of this part of the Workshop.  This is an opportunity for faculty to submit their ideas for an integrative broad-based or narrow-based course.

NOTE:  Faculty should bring laptops to work in groups.
