What is the Evening MBA Program at Cal State Long Beach?
A self-paced, 48 unit MBA program designed for either part-time or full-time, domestic and international students. This is a fully accredited degree (AACSB International, WASC). All courses are taught in the late afternoon or evening and are based on a semester schedule.
Who are typical Evening MBA students?
About thirty percent of Evening MBA students are international students. The average age of Evening MBA students is 26. Women represent approximately 55% of Evening MBA students. Students come from many different professional backgrounds. Some students choose to enroll immediately after receiving their undergraduate degree.
What are the areas of Specialization?
Three of four approved advanced study classes must be completed in one area of specialization. Specializations are Finance, Information Systems, Health Care Management, Human Resources Management, Marketing and General Management.
What if I don't have an undergraduate degree in Business Administration?
Less than thirty percent of MBA applicants have an undergraduate degree in business. If you don't have an undergraduate business degree, you will have to complete the First Year Core courses which are included in the 48 unit MBA program.
Where and When are classes held?
All classes are held in the College of Business Administration building on weekday afternoons or evenings.
How long will it take to complete my MBA?
Many students are able to graduate in 3 to 4 years as part-time students and 1 1/2 to 2 years as full-time students. Summer session classes are also offered to speed up the process.
How often are students admitted? What are the application deadlines?
Students are admitted for fall and spring semesters. The deadline to apply for fall is June 1, and the deadline to apply for spring is November 1. For international students, the fall deadline is April 1, and the spring deadline is October 15.
Who teaches the MBA courses?
All instructors in the MBA Program are from the faculty of the College of Business Administration
What about courses I've completed at another MBA program?
Some students start their MBA program somewhere else and transfer to Cal State Long Beach. If you have started an MBA program, we will evaluate all course work from an accredited (AACSB International) graduate school and will transfer a maximum of 2 courses (6 semester units).
What about my undergraduate Businesses courses?
If your undergraduate business degree is less than 3 years old, AND if your school is AACSB accredited, AND you received a B or better, we may waive as many as four First Year Core courses. All transcripts are evaluated prior to admission.
How much work experience do I need?
There is no minimum work experience required for admission. Nevertheless, work experience is recommended, so that students are able to receive full benefit from their class work.
What are my tuition costs?
California Residents: Part time (up to 6 units per semester) = 2,348.00. Full time (more than 6 units per semester) = $3,764.00. There is also a $254 per unit ($762 per 3-unit class) Graduate Business Professional Fee in addition to the basic part-time or full-time registration fee. If you are not a resident of California, or if you are an International student, you must add $372 to the above totals for each unit you take. Fees are subject to change without advance notice.
These amounts do not include, books, course materials, parking, food, etc. There is no federal or state financial aid available for international students.
What materials are needed to complete my application?
GMAT or GRE (taken within last 5 years.) MBA Application Sheett; two letters of recommendation from professional associates or professors, statement of purpose; essay questions which can be found in the Application Materials section
